In the early 1950s, the Risleys worked for the State Department in the Philippines, and later Taiwan, pairing local craft industries and contemporary design. This experience led Risley to incorporate indigenous techniques and materials into his own sculpture and manufactured wood products.

With our new introduction of the Duyan Chair, we have moved everything in house. At Craft Associates, we take pride in being an American made company. Each of these chair frames are woven in America, as well as the metal base. We are honored to have a team of artisans that are willing to put the time into learning these techniques and the individual weave which takes many hours.
